How to become a fashion journalist - Anastasiya Mozgovaya

How to become a fashion journalist

My name is Anastasiya Mozgovaya, and I am 21 years old. I was born and raised in Dnipropetrovsk, Eastern Ukraine, but moved to Kiev, the capital of Ukraine, after graduating from high school in order to study at university. I received my bachelor`s degree in “Editing and Publishing” in June 2015. At the moment, I am at the crossroad of many options of what to do next of how to become a fashion journalist. I have always been one of those kids, who wanted to choose their own outfits from a very young age, no matter what their parents thought or said. I had a very vivid idea of what I wanted to look like. In middle school, I took up drawing classes, where I had a chance to explore my first fashion magazine. I honestly do not remember which one it was, but I looked at every single page many-many times and felt a new kind of very strong excitement. That was the moment, when I realised I wanted to be in fashion. Back …

Copenhagen Fashion Week ss16 - Henrik Vibskov

Copenhagen Fashion Week ss16

A lot of things can be said about Copenhagen Fashion Week ss16 (CPHFW), but what comes to my mind is that in a world where everything is accessible immediately and worldwide (thanks to the Internet), the joy of experiencing something more niche starts to be increasingly appealing – like joining an exclusive club. While everyone has been to Berlin, Barcelona and NYC, still not everyone has been to Copenhagen, and especially not Copenhagen Fashion Week. Henrik Vibskov HAN Kjobenhavn It’s no secret that the Danish Fashion Week is less renowned and visited than some of the more established fashion capitals, but it’s exactly because of this, it has an interesting appeal and allure. And this is after all what matters; the mood and brand of CPHFW, its designers and attendees. It’s no longer about the hype of having as many followers (or visitors) as possible, but about the quality you have with them. Freya Dalsjø Ivan Grundahl So what is Danish Fashion like? Being from Copenhagen myself, I would summarise it like this: Copenhagen is the …

What’s happening with Online Fashion Retail?

Gone are the days, when a fashion designer had the luxury of only having to deal with designing beautiful clothes. A fashion designer today may not exactly need to be an all-around expert in everything from business to design, but nevertheless know the fundamentals of production & outsourcing, social media strategies, and retail. During Copenhagen Fashion Week 5-8 August 2015, Easysize organised a talk under the exciting title of ‘Bridging the Gap between Fashion and Online Shoppers’ with a focus on online fashion retail. Manou Messmann, Expert in Fashion Dynamics and Consumer Behaviour, was the first keynote speaker, and she mentioned interesting points about how companies today are reaching out to consumers, initiating a dialogue with them (dialogue is a key word in this context), understanding what the consumer wants, and trying to facilitate this need. It’s about making relevant products, and technology can help with that. Lise Elbæk-Jespersen, Retail Industry Manager at Google Denmark, had an impressive amount of hard data to share with the audience about consumer behaviour. 2,5 billion people today are …

New fashion brand Haveney

Haveney; a new fashion brand

I have previously written about the new fashion brand Haveney, and the designer behind Laetitia Rossazza (read more about that here). Based in Marseille, and not one of the big fashion capitals, it’s interesting to experience a designer – perhaps not exactly growing up in the middle of lavender and big ships with cargo – but still in some way living a different experience with less Fondazione Prada and MMM. At least, I find it very interesting to see what designers growing up with different aspirations have to offer to the international fashion system. Since I saw her fashion show at MC Fashion Week, she has been busy with her future pop-up store, which will open in September in Marseille, in the biggest commercial centre in the region. The concept of the store is having different brands based on the theme of beauty. The entire collection will be for sale, and prior to this, there were lots of preparation, production, and PR. She also had to work on the ‘after show’ with publishing the best …
