It’s 2017 – Editor’s note

It’s 2017 – exciting, isn’t it? At The Fashion Crowd, we took a break in order to strategize for 2017, and now we’re back with exciting plans and a desire to make 2017 a fashionable one. Over the past days, we stumbled upon a couple of articles that made our minds fly. The first was from Vogue (read it here), and it spoke about the amount of changes that happened in 2016, and that are likely to keep happening in 2017. That is one thing that is certain and the over-all question remains how fashion can keep up with the pace of social media and its instant changes, its very reason to exist. Perhaps in the future, the new normal will be that we will all only have a basic wardrobe and merely rent the fashion pieces in order to always be able to change them? Joseph & Oscar de la Rente… Let’s see. Surely it’s exiting and opens up to a well of new possibilities. The article went on to talking about the main …

Hillary Clinton

Editor’s note – on Hillary Clinton

So, we’re not exactly a political blog as in at all – we’re a fashion blog – but fashion is about making a standpoint that you believe in, and so is being a cool human being. We had to comment on the one thing that is on our mind today; the US election. We don’t consider ourselves to be experts in American politics, and therefore perhaps our voice is not even important, but we do consider ourselves to have certain values that we believe in, and human traits that we approve of and admire. Let’s start with the human traits; I really admire, when people work hard, have a proven track record/CV, know what they’re talking about, have familiarised themselves with cases they comment on, speak well of others, and have a positive outlook on the future and believe in being able to better things. This is the type of person, I would love to be friends with and hire to work with. It’s also the type of person I would go to great lengths …

September – Editor’s Letter

Welcome back! After a long summer, we’re delighted to welcoming you back to The Fashion Crowd. Anastasiya, Gloria and myself have all spent a relaxing summer, while also working hard on tailoring a slightly different website with a slightly different experience. You will see, how we have arranged much of the most important information on a page called Useful Information, so it will always be handy to get at, while also structuring our Community in a more comprehensive way. We’re here to engage on Instagram, our preferred way of sharing visual content with our global network, through a series of hashtags allowing us to Connect-Share-Engage. Have a look at it here. Furthermore, we have put a Q&A page in place, as our project was always based on a vision of being a ‘place-to-go’ for young fashion designers. It’s a completely new initiative, and we’re eager to see, if it will be successful and valuable with our readers. But – enough about us. It’s September, the summer is over, and fashion week is here! It’s one …

I Love Fashion

I Love Fashion

At The Fashion Crowd, we write so many things about fashion. One topic, we have strangely never touched upon, and which is one of the lighter ones and more entertaining, is why fashion is so wonderful. The idea and desire came to us – or rather the writer of this piece – after seeing two wonderful images of wonderful women dressed in a way that was so appealing. I Love Fashion! At my age (36 years) and after 15 years in the fashion industry, it doesn’t happen to me all the time that I fall in love with a garment or outfit, but it definitely does happen. And when it happens, it’s just as strong an emotion, as it always was. It’s a bit like falling in love really. When I was 20, I felt in love all the time – both with men and fashion. As you get older, it gets a lot more difficult. That’s also why, you sometimes hear experienced people from the industry saying that all is the same, all has …

Fashion summer holiday

Illustrator Gloglo on her Fashion Summer Holiday

What our lovely illustrator Gloglo has to say on the topic of how to spend her fashion summer holiday: This is the summer, I have most been looking forward to ever! I have just finished my last year of Fashion Design studies, and I’ve had to work very hard and make a good final project. Although now I feel nostalgic and tired, I also feel very happy, because I finally finished, and I am very satisfied with myself. Now it’s time to relax! To be honest, I never usually plan my vacation. I prefer to get carried away and improvise, as I think, it is more exciting. My philosophy for the perfect vacation is slow-flow life. During the rest of the year, we endure a stressed everyday life with many obligations and always running around. Therefore holiday is our time to press the pause button. Even though I don’t have a plan yet, there are many things I like to do. It’s nothing special, but just simple things that make me feel very good. Swimming …

Fashion summer

Anastasiya’s note on her Fashion Summer

A story of a girl, who learnt that any summer can become a good summer. “What matters is not where you are, but what you do”, – a thought that is a perfect embodiment of what I have been thinking for the last couple of weeks. I heard it during an interview with a designer (not in fashion) and now director of “Aestetik” – Maxi Shilov. I have always been one of those people, who are convinced that being somewhere else would change everything for the better. Summer has always been my escape time – I was so lucky that I had had a chance to travel since being 10 years old. For the most part, the reason for those trips was studying, but I did not care. I was ready to study even on school breaks in order to go on a trip. Even when I became older, trips still remained my main source of joy and happiness. If there is one thing I cannot stop being jealous of that is travelling. YES, I honestly …

Fashionable summer

Editor’s note – on a fashionable Summer

It’s almost June! That means summer, holiday, drinks, warm evenings, sun, a tan, the smell of sun lotion, soft breezes, colours, light clothes and an all-together different energy. Light Linen shirts and paglia shoes… Maybe.. Depending on where you are. Writing this, I’m in London, and today the weather is grey, grey, grey, and I had to borrow a warm sweater from my friend. But hey, we’ve already had some good days, and optimistic as I am, I’m hoping for more sunny days and an all-together ‘good summer’. Being born in Denmark, the topic of the ‘good summer’ is every year, well, pretty hot. And working in fashion; I’m all about a fashionable summer. The world is a great place of opportunities and possibilities, and never before has it been possible to make your dreams come true as easily as today. Alas, it’s still not easy, but at least more possible. This is of course great – thanks in particular to the Internet. It’s the same Internet that also allows us to constantly be updated …

Happy Fashion New year

Happy Fashion New Year – Editor’s Letter

Writing this, I’m sitting on a hotel balcony in Cape Town looking at the beautiful sea. I’m normally a big fan of the Working-from-The-Global-Office lifestyle (read more about that here), but for once I’m actually on a real and relaxing holiday. While overlooking the sea, I’m thinking about the year that passed, and the year that is in front of us. This is one of the many reasons, why this time of the year is indeed so special: it’s a moment of reflection about past and future plans, dreams, but also fears, and the important matters in our lives are all up for this annual weighting of things. Happy Fashion New Year! In the fashion industry, it was a year with many changes. Notorious Creative Directors took on positions with new brands, and industry professionals made the first moves to changing how fashion is presented and to whom (read more about that here). Problems that have long been obvious to everyone are finally being addressed, as social media has had a huge impact on our …
